Professor Jennie Bradbury, Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology, Bryn Mawr College, leads a conversation adopting an archaeologically-focused approach to explore how mortuary practices and beliefs in the Near East changed over time and space. Considering how processes of memorializing, valorizing and forgetting the dead were used as coping methods by society, as sociopolitical tools, and as acts of religious persecution, her research connects the ancient practices and beliefs to approaches of death and dying in the modern world.
